All of this is provided in our in-person and multimedia performances, storytelling, games, and community.

OUR STORY

Meet the DUO, Sir Garin Hyde and Lady Leigh Roberson, co-owners of Livingrooms and Lizards. Together, they’re bringing a fresh twist to fantasy, storytelling, and tabletop gaming. Their friendship blossomed over the years, fueled by encouragement, shared interests, and even embarking on adventures together. When faced with a significant life change, they chose to pick themselves up and create something magical.

Pooling their talents and resources, Sir Garin and Lady Leigh turned their dream into reality. Their goal is to create opportunities for community, connection, and creativity. Sir Garin’s passion stems from the life lessons and connections he discovered through playing D&D and storytelling with his father. He believes that the courage to create and express oneself is the greatest gift, within a safe and supportive community.

Lady Leigh’s mission has always been to positively impact the next generation and help people turn their dreams into action. She envisions a safe, healthy, and fun environment where ideas can flow and foster connection, community, and creativity.

Recognizing the need for collaboration and community-driven approaches, Livingrooms and Lizards was born. Their foundation is built on cooperation and education, with a focus on tabletop games, fantasy literature, and life lessons through storytelling. Together, they invite you on an adventure unlike any other. Get ready to embark on a journey where imagination knows no bounds.

Sir Garin Hyde here, Founder and Creator of Livingrooms & Lizards. When I was 12 years old, I was introduced to D&D, and it quickly became my favorite game. You see, my parents had recently separated, and I was searching for a way to connect with my dad. So, I would often sit and watch him and his friends play.

As I grew older, I realized that D&D and storytelling with my dad had taught me valuable life lessons and helped me forge strong connections. It became my dream to pass on these experiences to others. I believe that the greatest gift you can give someone is the courage to create, to express themselves, and to find their own unique voice. And it all happens within a safe and supportive community.

Throughout the past 12+ years, I have pursued various creative endeavors. I have been a professional photographer and the proud owner of Hydeography. I’m also a voice actor, musician, professional Dungeon Master, set builder, illustrator, and comic enthusiast. Somehow, amidst building sets at Belmont Abbey, teaching elementary students at Highland Mill Montessori School how to play D&D, and illustrating books with my dad, I still find time to bring laughter and support to my community.

I’m passionate about creating spaces and experiences where people can come together, learn, and grow. And with Livingrooms & Lizards, I aim to do just that.

Hi Friends! I’m the Executive Producer and Co-Owner of Livingrooms & Lizards, AKA The Wizard Wrangler! Bringing 15 years combined experience as a nanny and owner of Family First Household Staffing Agency to the team! I desire to help people put dreams into action, while cultivating a safe, healthy, and fun environment where ideas can flow!

My life mission has always been to impact the next generation in a positive way. When brainstorming L & L with Sir Hyde, my passion expanded into a world where we could foster connection, community and creativity in a never before seen way, bringing together households across the country and maybe one day across the world.

I’ve had the honor of speaking nationally, hosting International Nanny Training Day events across the country, and have been featured in People of Charlotte magazine, but I am most excited to bring my experience from the LA film and music industry into this adventure.

I’m an avid lover of music, your main hype gal, enjoy a good belly laugh and living an authentic life. I truly believe every one of us is unique, we just need to find the tools that will allow us to reach our potential.

Drumroll, please! drumming sounds Allow me to introduce myself – I’m Blake Hobson, the Music/Sound Producer of Livingrooms and Lizards! With over 20+ years of experience in music production, I have the joy of bringing our wacky ideas to life. Since 2003, I’ve been immersed in the world of recording, and professionally, since 2013 with my own company, now known as Sense 2 Recording Studio.

During my time in UNCC, I pursued a minor in physics alongside my BA in music. This unique combination has allowed me to approach music production with both technical knowledge and creative flair. Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of recording 13 albums, as well as singles and EPS for more than 13 talented artists. And just to clarify, my favorite number isn’t 13, it’s actually 2. Yes, I have a peculiar fondness for the number 2.

While most of my projects have catered to adult audiences, I’m thrilled to be able to use my talents to entertain children and families all across America through Livingrooms and Lizards. Music runs in my blood, coming from a long line of musicians in my family. Fun fact – I accidentally learned to play the guitar left-handed, despite being right-handed myself. I suppose my passion for music took over any considerations for convention!

When I’m not busy working on musical projects, you’ll find me indulging in my favorite video games. I have a soft spot for classics like Zelda ‘Ocarina of Time,’ ‘Tears of the Kingdom,’ and Castlevania ‘Symphony of the Night.’

Apart from my musical endeavors, I have a quirky personality, a knack for brilliance, and a strong love for the great outdoors. I’ve even taken the leap – quite literally – by skydiving almost 400 times from a “perfectly good” airplane. On top of that, I’m a singer-songwriter, and I’ve written theme songs for my friends and family.

It brings me great joy to be a part of Livingrooms and Lizards, where I can combine my passions for music, creativity, and entertainment to bring magic and smiles to people’s lives. Let’s embark on this adventure together!

Greetings, adventurers! I go by the name of Sam, and I am thrilled to be one of the core volunteers at Livingrooms & Lizards. With a background as a mother, former nanny, and preschool teacher, I have gained invaluable knowledge and hands-on experience in child development and meeting the needs of children. As a caring mom myself, I have learned important lessons in organization, communication, and fostering the growth of little ones.

In addition to my experience with children, I have deep understanding in safety and personal care through my studies as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and my work supporting and caring for seniors and individuals with disabilities. Energetic, enthusiastic, and passionate, I am known among my peers for brightening everyone’s day with smiles, joy, laughter, and a sense of fun. Treating others, especially children, with kindness, respect, and compassion is of utmost importance to me.

When I’m not immersed in the world of Livingrooms & Lizards, you can find me and my hubby exploring the great outdoors. We have a deep love for hiking, camping, fishing, kayaking, and all things nature-related. Our furry family includes three dogs and two geckos, bringing even more joy and laughter into our lives. I firmly believe that laughter is the best medicine, and I always strive to bring smiles to others’ faces.

So, let’s embark on this marvelous adventure together, filled with imagination, growth, and lots of laughter!
